Greetings Wilsonians,
Welcome to college readiness month.
Advisees have been interviewing Sra. Wilson about her college experiences at Syracuse University. She was on the rowing team, majored in business and Spanish culture and language, and studied abroad in Spain for a year!
Students then created a where, what, how chart for where THEY see themselves in college and what they might want to study.  We talked about how to save money, apply for loans from the bank and how to stay focused even when your friends want to distract you at school.

Good morning,
October themes in advisory today included a college interview with Ms. Wilson.  Advisees asked questions they’ve always wondered about college- including where Ms. Wilson went (Syracuse) what sports she did (rowing) and what her studies focused in (business and Spanish!).

Apples to Apples

Good morning,
Today marks our first Friday with clusters so advisory was just :30 minutes- we got the most out of it by enjoying time together playing apples to apples and talking about our weekends.  What I love most about the Wilsonians= our good moods, our kind welcoming hearts, our honesty and energy. Have a great one!

Wilsonians today reached a consensus that we can, indeed, change the way we think.  This is not easy for some people who don’t believe in themselves or their ability to GROW...
Our new motto is “Make Mistakes and... Persevere!” See the puzzle poster we colored today while discussing our growth mindset quiz scores. Many of us scored quite high, actually, which is wonderful seeing as we like to challenge ourselves and know messing up is part of the process.

Also, thanks, Jaydalize... for the snacks this morning.  The chips hit the spot! :-)
Isabella will be bringing snack next Friday, and who knows where the conversation will bring us.

Wilsonians are positive community members who enjoy each other’s company.  We trust everyone in our group and our bond gets stronger each week.

Sharing (donuts) and caring about ourselves and one another

Hello!

Wilsonian advisees welcomed two students today whose advisor was out.  Yay! The more the merrier. We collaged items onto our folders that show who we are and what we care about most- we also made a chart with things we CANNOT live without (unicorns? yes!) We had many things in common: family, friends, music, nature... some days middle schoolers feel isolated like no one know what they are going through, and then we share projects like this that link us back together again- we really had a lovely morning together.  The snack schedule is all set, too! Next week we will be setting more goals together, both academic and socially speaking. We also have yet to think of a growth mindset motto- any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to the Wilson Advisory group.

Hello! Greetings!
We are the Wilsonian 6th grade advisory group at ESM. Advisory is a place to be together in a safe setting to talk about all the happenings in 6th grade life.  We have monthly themes we uncover together, after doing greetings and sharing.  Advisory is a place to talk about our futures, too! Like where we want to go to college, and what we might do as professional adults one day :-)

On Fridays we meet for :30 minutes or :90 minutes depending on the Cluster rotation schedule.  Last Friday, we created Dream Catchers together (after finding natural materials on the nature trail).  Our personal dream catchers represent how negative energy can get caught and we have the control to turn it positive! Growth Mindset September is all about having a positive outlook and perspective during challenging times.  Do you persist? Do you give up easy? Are you up for a challenge?
